Trouvez le nom idéal pour votre marque

Méthode rapide pour trouver votre nom de marque.

Trouver un nom pour sa marque n’est pas forcément chose aisée sauf si vous souhaitez lui donner votre nom. C’est le cas pour beaucoup d’indépendants qui sont en première ligne et doivent “se vendre” eux-mêmes pour proposer leurs services ou encore si vous jouissez déjà d’une certaine réputation.

Etape 1: Image de marque & positionnement

Les questions que vous devez vous poser pour commencer.

– Dans quel secteur souhaitez-vous vous positionner ? À quelle échelle ?

– Avez-vous un avantage concurrentiel ?

– Quelle est votre cible ?

– Quelle image souhaitez-vous véhiculer à travers votre marque ? Vos valeurs ?

– Quels sont vos objectifs de communication ?

Etape 2: Veille concurrentielle

Comment communiquent vos concurrents ?

Le travail de veille préliminaire est très important. Il va vous permettre d’identifier les tendances en matière de nom de marque aussi appelé “naming”.

Dans la majorité des cas, on peut observer que les marques se positionnent sur un mot clé star résumant tout l’univers lié à votre secteur, et y ajoutent un préfixe, un suffixe ou combinent un autre mot, adjectif ou verbe. 

 

Afin de trouver vos concurrents, tapez les mots clés de votre secteur dans la barre de recherche Google (exemple: compléments alimentaires bio).

 

Ensuite, notez les marques que vous voyez. Ou mieux, faîtes un copier-coller des images dans un même fichier. Cela vous aidera aussi à identifier l’univers graphique (logo, packaging etc) de votre secteur.

 

Vous devez commencer à observer une grande tendance à l’utilisation de mots du même champ lexical. Exemple: eco, green, nature etc pour le secteur environnemental ou bio.

Remarquez que les noms anglais ou franglais ont beaucoup la côte.

Etape 3: Brainstorming et disponibilité

Comment communiquent vos concurrents ?

C’est le grand moment! L’heure est venue de passer à l’action.

Sur un tableau excel, créez un fichier “marque”, puis dans la première colonne “Nom”, vous listerez tous les mots qui vous viennent à l’esprit.

Quand vous aurez fini, déclinez-les et jouez avec à volonté. 

Vous pouvez vous inspirer de tout :

 

  • films 
  • musiques
  • personnages de livres
  • des noms de marques d’autres secteurs que vous appréciez 
  • prénoms
  • objets
  • fruits
  • légumes
  • espèces animales
  • espèces végétales
  • couleurs
  • langues mortes
  • langues vivantes
  • etc

Faîtes-en un mélange. Exemple: nature + green = natugreen.

Inventez-en un grâce à des préfixes ou suffixes tendances tels que: ed, ers, ea, y, est tics, ô, the, land etc

Ou encore des verbes d’action ou adjectifs: go, addict, bio, boost, fit, be, love, good, care, form etc

Gardez toujours en tête qu’il doit être compréhensible et plaire à votre cible. 

De préférence, optez pour un nom COURT et évocateur.

 

Attention, peu importe le nom que vous choisirez, il faudra qu’il ait du sens pour votre clientèle cible, que vous puissiez le justifier, raconter une histoire(storytelling) autour de votre marque.

Et méfiez-vous d’un nom qui a un double sens ou qui à l’envers ou dans une autre langue signifierait une insulte.

 

Dans la deuxième colonne intitulée“inpi” vous noterez en face de chaque nom, la mention “disponible” ou “non disponible” en vérifiant sa disponibilité via le lien suivant: https://data.inpi.fr/

 

Vous pourrez marquer “disponible”, si la base marque de l’inpi n’affiche aucun résultat ou si le statut de la marque a expiré.

A contrario, vous noterez “indisponible” si il y a des résultats souvent très nombreux et dont le statut est tout sauf expiré (publié, enregistré, renouvelé). Cette colonne vous permettra de faire un premier tri, avant de partir sur un seul nom et de vous apercevoir qu’il est déjà pris. 

Ça y est, vous avez trouvé l’élu et il est disponible à l’Inpi ? Bravo !

Bon à savoir:

Pendant votre recherche de naming, en plus de vérifier la disponibilité inpi, je vous conseille en parallèle de regarder la disponibilité du nom de domaine pour conserver une certaine cohésion sur tous vos canaux de communication.
